In short: Train with Suzy is a private, women-focused personal training studio in Dore, Sheffield, run by female personal trainer Suzy Newson. Sessions are 1-2-1 (£400 for a block of ten) or 1-2-2 with a friend (£600 for ten), in person or online, and every new client starts with a free 45-minute consultation.
Getting Started
Some people are happy to follow their own programme in their own time and place. For those who lack the time, motivation or energy to train effectively on their own, a personal trainer can be the answer. The support, advice and encouragement come with safe exercise technique to help you avoid injuries.
Yes, they are free and can take up to 45 minutes. There's no obligation.
During your consultation, we will discuss the following:
- Basic personal details
- Medical background, a PAR-Q (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire)
- Fitness background
- Measuring, weighing and blood pressure taken (if desired)
- Lifestyle factors (smoking or drinking)
- Nutritional habits, I am not a trained nutritionist, so I can put you in touch with my colleague Sophie Leicester from Nutrition in Sheffield
- Personal goals and objectives in relation to fitness
The PAR-Q and lifestyle forms can be sent to you via email to complete and bring to your consultation, which saves time on the day.
Absolutely! I cater to all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced athletes, ensuring everyone feels comfortable.
Depending on your recent fitness and exercise programmes, I may ask for a certificate if I believe that medical conditions and/or past injuries will affect your participation in a training session. If you are under the care of a doctor for any reason, or if you are starting exercise for the first time, you will be asked to see your doctor to obtain their clearance first.
When you are overweight, underweight, unfit, or want to get fitter. When you are bored, when you have had a baby, when the kids have left home, or the jeans don't fit. When you are too busy to keep fit, when you are going skiing, when Christmas has happened, when summer is about to begin, when your training has gone stale… when you want to!
Sessions & Training
A personal training session lasts one hour. It starts with a short warm-up, followed by your own bespoke training programme where you focus on your goals using cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility. At the end there is a cool-down and stretch.
This depends on your goal and will be directed by your personal trainer, we'll agree the right frequency at your free consultation.
Just two things:

- Your own towel
Yes, I do train couples and friends, a maximum of 2 people per session. See the Friends & Family programme for pricing.
My private Sheffield gym is a completely private, women-focused training space, during your session it's a women-only environment with just you and me. I specialise in women's personal fitness, and every session is 1-2-1 (or 1-2-2 with a friend), so you'll never walk into a busy gym floor or train in front of strangers. Take a look inside the gym.

Pricing & Booking
Yes, at Train with Suzy everybody pays for 10 sessions in a block up front. This ensures a commitment on both sides, so we stay consistent with all sessions and achieve your goals.
At Train with Suzy, a block of ten one-hour 1-2-1 sessions costs £400, that's £40 per session, in person at my private Sheffield gym or online. Training with a friend (1-2-2) costs £600 for ten sessions, £30 per person per session. Your initial consultation is always free. See full pricing details.

- Friday, 8:00am until 12:00 midday
My private gym is in Dore, South-West Sheffield. Clients travel from across the city, Totley, Bradway, Ecclesall, Millhouses, Abbeydale, Fulwood and beyond. And with online personal training, you can train with me from anywhere.
